May 15 is National Hispanic Hepatitis Awareness Day (NHHAD), an opportunity to highlight the impact of viral hepatitis on the Hispanic/Latinx community in the U.S. NHHAD is an annual event organized by the Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA) to raise awareness within the Hispanic/Latinx community about viral hepatitis and push for improvements in hepatitis-related health disparities.
This NHHAD, HepVu is publishing a Q&A with NASTAD’s Rita Isabel Lechuga, MD, MPH that highlights the unique barriers faced by the Hispanic/Latinx community and the need to raise public awareness about viral hepatitis.
HepVu is also partnering with the Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA) for a webinar on Friday, May 13 at 2:00PM ET about the impact of Hepatitis C in the United States, with specific insights about its impact on the Hispanic/Latinx community. The webinar will feature presentations from Luis Mares, LMSW from LCOA and Ronald Valdiserri, MD, MPH from Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and co-chair of HepVu.
